You know about my PERSONAL TRAINING SERVICES and my NUTRITION COACHING SERVICES.  You know that I can help you reach your body composition goals and performance goals through training plans and helping you to develop healthy eating habits.  Nutrition and Exercise are the majority of the equation.  Get those right and you will go far.

But, there is another part to the story.

Supplements

Supplements are not the most important part of your journey to better health but they can definitely help.  Supplements can range from multivitamins to protein powders to energy drinks to meal replacement shakes.  It is a big world.

I have used many different kinds of supplements over the years.  Some of made me pretty happy and others have made me think, “What a waste of money!”  It wasn’t until I tried Advocare that I found a line of supplements that make me very happy all the time.

What am I taking now?

Spark Energy Drink

Rehydrate

Coffeecino

Herbal Cleanse

Coreplex

I will go into more details of each of these products later on in a future post.  Just know that I am extremely happy with each one!!

How did I get involved with Advocare as the third part of my health passion?

A good friend helped me to see that not only is Advocare an awesome supplement company but they are also an awesome business opportunity.  Hmmmmmm….

You got me on how good the products are but I’ve always been hesitant at joining business opportunities.

I researched and I researched and I researched.

I prayed and I prayed and I prayed.

I sought Godly wisdom.

Here is what sold me:

Advocare is a Christian company.

Advocare has been growing for twenty years .

The Endorsers.  The straw that broke this camel’s back was when I heard that Rich Froning signed as an endorser.  The “World’s Fittest Man” has been using Advocare for years on his own dime and has just now joined the team because he believes in it. It speaks volumes to me that all the Advocare endorsers used the products on their own before they became public endorsers.  These people are Olympians, NFL,  Bodybuilders, etc. The level of performance is astounding.

The Focus on Performance. Advocare does indeed have “weight loss aids” such as the 24-Day Challenge but they are very clear that it is used in conjunction to a healthy diet and exercise.  The system they offer will NOT work without the work of healthy eating and being active.  Once again, supplements are just PART of the equation.   There are no magic pills here.  Don’t ever assume there is and don’t think I am claiming it. And the TRIM line is just a small part of the catalog of offerings.  There is also the ACTIVE, WELL, and PERFORMANCE ELITE lines.  All of these offer aids to improve your performance in the gym and in life.

This is a product and a company I can stand behind.

So, with all that being said, I am an ADVOCARE INDEPENDENT DISTRIBUTOR!!! (All the links to Advocare go to my personal microsite where you can buy all your products and I earn a small commission).

I am very excited to add ADVOCARE to my offerings.  It makes me a one-stop-shop!!!

Personal Training

Nutrition Coaching

Supplementation

The Future looks bright and I can’t WAIT to help YOU!!!

Feel free to ask me questions!!  Peruse my microsite! Let me know your thoughts!

To the NEW YOU!

Saranac b-grl Workout Gloves: A Review

I have made the most awesome discovery in the world of weightlifting. Well, in my world of weightlifting! So awesome that I had to dedicate an entire post to it.

I have TINY hands. Over the years these tiny hands have come to haunt me. I was told I could not play piano very well because my finger span was too small. I could never reach an octave! It comes up every so often when someone just comments, “Wow! You have tiny hands!” If only I could spread some of that tiny-ness to other parts of my body. LOL!!! 😉

One of the problems of tiny hands is that I have NOT been able to find a pair of weightlifting gloves that fit my hands snuggly. I wanted to wear gloves to prevent calluses and give me extra grip and padding. All the gloves I have tried are too big and slip when I grip the bar. The sliding of the material then causes calluses!! UGH!! So, for a very long time I did not wear gloves because they were pointless and I could get a better grip without them. I actually felt safer without the gloves.

Then the planets aligned and the Lord smiled down on me and I found a pair of gloves at a local sporting store that FIT MY HANDS!!!

OH HAPPY DAY!!

ROCK my world!

I usually don’t go for products that are made pink just to look more girly. I guess that’s the Tomboy in me. But, I can look past the pink highlights in these gloves.

The biggest reason I love these gloves is quite obvious by now. They fit my hands. They dont slip off or around while I am lifting. If you have tiny hands like I do, get these glvoes right now.

The padding is awesome. I have a nerve in my hand that tends to get pinched when I am lifting heavier weights mainly during the bench press or dumbbell shoulder press. I have actually dropped the dumbbell when the nerve was pinched and I just let go because it hurt so badly. Not good. I have not had that problem since I started wearing these gloves. The padding is just enough and placed just right.

There are two loops on each hand in between the fingers. At first I was confused by these loops but once I put them on it made perfect sense. These gloves fit so snuggly that they can be a booger to pull off. So, the loops really help getting these gloves off especially when your hands have been sweating.

There you have it. AWESOME gloves that fit TINY hands. Get you some!!

TINY HANDS UNITE!!!

Gym Class Heroes Made Me a ‘Fighter’

Have you noticed I am a very visual person? That is how I learn. Visually.

Pictures, videos, writing, reading, etc. all speak to me. If you want something to stick in my head I have to see it. And that’s why I LOVE videos so much and that’s why I share them so much. 🙂

One of my favorite videos from early on in my transformation journey is the above by Gym Class Heroes, The Fighter.

I LOVE this song to begin with but this version is especially my favorite.

This guy is working his ever-loving tail off in the gym. He is going after his dreams with all of his heart. He is busting it.

He is a FIGHTER!!

There are times that I don’t feel like anyone really cares what I do or how hard I work. There have been plenty of times that I feel totally beat down by those around me. Truth or my perception? Who knows…

But, seeing videos like this and spending time in prayer reminds me that I can use these bad feelings as fuel….

…Fuel to keep pressing on.

…Fuel to keep fighting.

…Fuel to keep making goals that are bigger and better.

…Fuel to make myself better.

….and not as poison that will keep me down.

I could keep going on and on but I think the lyrics say it the best. So, read on…

“The Fighter”
(feat. Ryan Tedder)

Just waking up in the morning
And to be well,
Quite honest with ya,
I ain’t really sleep well
Ya ever feel like your train of thought’s been derailed?
That’s when you press on – Lee nails
Half the population’s just waitin to see me fail
Yeah right, you’re better off trying to freeze hell
Some of us do it for the females
And others do it for the retail

But I do it for the kids, life threw the towel in on
Every time you fall it’s only making your chin strong
And I’ll be in your corner like Mick, baby, ’til the end
Or when you hear a song from that big lady

[Bridge]
Until the referee rings the bell
Until both your eyes start to swell
Until the crowd goes home
What we gonna do ya’ll?

[Chorus – Ryan Tedder]
Give em hell, turn their heads
Gonna live life ’til we’re dead.
Give me scars, give me pain
Then they’ll say to me, say to me, say to me
There goes the fighter, there goes the fighter
Here comes the fighter
That’s what they’ll say to me, say to me, say to me,
This one’s a fighter

[Verse 2]
And if I can last thirty rounds
There’s no reason you should ever have your head down
Six foot five, two hundred and twenty pounds
Hailing from rock bottom, loserville, nothing town

Text book version of a kid going nowhere fast
And now I’m yelling, “Kiss my ass”
It’s gonna take a couple right hooks, a few left jabs
For you to recognize you really ain’t got it bad

[Bridge]
Until the referee rings the bell
Until both your eyes start to swell
Until the crowd goes home
What we gonna do ya’ll?

[Chorus – Ryan Tedder]
Give em hell, turn their heads
Gonna live life ’til we’re dead.
Give me scars, give me pain
Then they’ll say to me, say to me, say to me
There goes the fighter, there goes the fighter
Here comes the fighter
That’s what they’ll say to me, say to me, say to me,
This one’s a fighter

Everybody put yo hands up
What we gonna do (hey!) [x4] y’all?
What we gonna do (hey!) [x3] y’all?

If you fall pick yourself up off the floor (get up)
And when your bones can’t take no more (c’mon)
Just remember what you’re here for
Cuz I know Imma damn sure

Give em hell, turn their heads
Gonna live life ’til we’re dead.
Give me scars, give me pain
Then they’ll say to me, say to me, say to me
There goes the fighter, there goes the fighter
Here comes the fighter
That’s what they’ll say to me, say to me, say to me,
This one’s a fighter

‘Til the referee rings the bell
‘Til both ya eyes start to swell
‘Til the crowd goes home,
What we gonna do kid?

Exercising the Mind: Scripture Memory

A lot of the blog is focused on exercising our bodies. Molding them through physical work into healthy vessels. But, a crucial part of this whole process is exercising the mind too. I would argue that majority of our success comes straight from having a strong and in shape mind.

There are tons of ways that we can work our minds.

Puzzles

Reading

Taking on new challenges

One of my favorite things to do to exercise my mind is Scripture Memory. I’m not always the best keeping up with the habit but when I am doing it my life is blessed beyond measure.

Ever since I became a Christian I knew deep down in my soul that Scripture Memory should be a high priority in my walk with the Lord. When I became a Mom I knew that I wanted my son to memorize scripture and for that to happen I knew I needed to set an example of memorizing. I will commit to memorize scripture, write out a few flash cards, and get started. There is no system to it and needless to say, it was way too easy to fall out of the habit. Once again, I would quit and of all things, scripture memory.

I have looked and looked for a memory system that would work for me. I have finally found one. I am so thankful for the Simply Charlotte Mason website and their Scripture Memory System. I created my “memory box” last week and I am amazed at how easy it is to follow this system and to Hide God’s Word in my heart.

Here is how it works:

Get an index card box, tons of index cards, and forty-one tabbed dividers. Label the dividers as follows: 1 divider-Daily, 1 Divider-Odd, 1 Divider-Even, 7 Dividers-Days of the Week (Sunday-Monday), and 31 dividers-Numbered 1-31.

Then write down any verses you already have committed to memory on cards and place them behind the numbered tabs, distributed evenly. (I am so far behind in my memory verses that I could not do this).

Write down your first set of memory verses and place them either in front of the daily tab or in the back of the box.  Take your first verse and place it behind the daily tab.  You are ready to get started!

Here is my memory box with my “Daily” Verse of the day.
Here is my memory box with my “Daily” Verse of the day.

Once you have commited your first “Daily” verse to memory move it back to either the Odd or Even tab. As you memorize more verses you will have enough cards to advance from the “Odd” and “Even” to the “Days of the Week’ and then to the numbered tabs. Just keep advancing each level as you move your ‘Daily” verse back.

A verse I want to memorize in the "odd" section.
A verse I want to memorize in the “odd” section.

So, this is how it would work. Today is Monday, the 12th. You will work on your “Daily” verse and review the verses behind the “Even” tab since 12 is an even number, behind the Monday tab, and behind day number 12. You will review a new verse every day and then every other day, once a week, and finally once a month.

Make sense??

Have you ever considered memorizing Scripture as a daily discipline?

For further edification watch this video by John Piper on the reasons for memorizing Scripture.

Exercising the Mind: Scripture Memory

Ten Thousand Reasons…

Happy Monday!!!

As we are all gearing up for the week I wanted to take a step back from regular posting and share this video.

This is by far my favorite song right now.  My son and I often sing it at the top of our lungs while driving down the road.

Sometimes I turn it on and just quietly listen.

“For All Your Goodness

I Will Keep Singing

Ten Thousand Reasons

For My Heart To Find.”

Be Blessed.

Ten Thousand Reasons…

Videos that Inspire and Motivate

Do videos inspire you? I am a very visually oriented person and that is my learning style. I have to see things before they really click in my brain. So, I often find myself watching videos on YouTube or wherever that motivate me and inspire me. They could be of athletes that just knock my socks off with their abilities or it could be the Mom downt he road who has an awesome transformation story. Or it could just be someone who had a dream and never, ever gave up on that dream. I will be sharing my favorite videos occasionally and I pray they touch you like they touched me.

You have probably seen this video because it made its way around Facebook and other social media outlets for quite awhile. Just look at the number of views!! But, if you haven’t seen it please watch and be inspired. This guy amazes me every time I watch this video. Yep….tears….every…single…time. 🙂
